Caffe
Trieste North Beach Best
of San Francisco Review/Caffe Trieste
This
historic caffe location
at 601 Vallejo Street was
the first espresso coffee
house established on the
West Coast (1956). It has
become famous across the
world for its combination
of essences: Old Italy,
Bohemian poets, art and
music, and excellent
Espresso. They are, thus,
the Espresso Pioneers of
the West Coast. The caffe
has served as a movie set
for many feature films
and has been the subject
of many documentaries
across the globe. The
walls are adorned with
pictures of many famous
celebrities who have
visited the caffe (some
are regular customers) as
well as of the hundreds
of musical events the
various members of the
Giotta family have
participated in.
The menu includes Italian
pastries, muffins,
bagels, desserts,
sandwiches, salads, pizza
and focaccia, all served
in a family atmosphere.
Wine and beer are served.
The Giotta Family's
famous Saturday afternoon
concert takes place each
week. The caffe, along
with its sister location
in Sausalito, serves over
600,000 cups of coffee
per year. Caffe Trieste
is where the true
ambiance of North Beach
begins.Coffee
beans, brewers,
accessories and Trieste
merchandise are also
available in the retail
store ("Annex")
located adjacent to the
North Beach Caffe
location. Caffe
