Hidden Treasure in San Fran
July 10th, 2006
My partner and I have lived in San Fran for several months, but never gotten around to doing the tourist thing. This weekend we decided to visit Muir Woods. To our disappointment, the bus companies allow very little time to actually walk around the woods, and there’s no pick-up, except from major hotels. We don’t have a car, so we felt our opportunities were limited. Using Google, we stumbled upon a website offering extremely reasonable door-ro-door limo service to and from Muir Woods. What a find! The driver, Larry, was terrific: so friendly and courteous and knowledgable…he picked us up from our home and put no limit on how long we could walk around the woods. He’s very professional, has a beautiful, well-kept car, and is a very, very safe driver. When he found out that we’d lived here a while without seeing much of the the city, he took a detour on the way back and stopped so that we could take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge - no extra charge! When my partner’s family visit from New Zealand, we’re definitely treating them to this excursion - a limousine trip to view some of nature’s wonders, what luxury!
At the end of the day, a door-to-door, chauffer-driven limo trip to Muir Woods, with unlimited time wandering through the woods (we took a few hours) turned out to be way less expensive than the alternative: taking Muni to a major hotel, getting on a big, impersonal bus, having only 45 minutes to walk around the woods, and then getting dropped off at some hotel far from our home.
We took heaps of pictures. BY all means, checkout Muir Woods. It’s basically the jewel in San Francisco’s crown. And if you don’t have a car, I highly reccomend Larry.
